"Melting"

Videos

My recent work is an exploration of the fragility of our environment and what would it take to put it back together. I use a  multi step process that incorporates origami sculpture, photos, video and paintings.  In my "Melting" series, the unstable nature of paper boxes that are stacked on top of each other expresses a delicate balance that makes the structure very vulnerable to the slightest movement of the air.  Eventually the stack of boxes collapses, and the task turns to recreating the structure again. Because the paper can be creased only so much, each time origami box falls apart it is harder and harder to put it together requiring more patience and perseverance.
